What happens when a critical piece of machinery breaks down? Does your entire production line stop? How much money – and time – do you lose repairing critical infrastructure?
AI has been thrown around as a solution to every problem, from resume writing to optimizing your stock portfolio. At Avathon, we’re using technology to help critical industries thrive through safer operations, more affordable and sustainable energy, and greater supply chain and logistics readiness.
We help industrial operators – think conventional and renewable energy companies, manufacturers, transportation, warehouse and logistics operators to name a few – maximize the lifetime of critical assets by using AI to predict and prevent failures before they cause disruption. Our platform also uses AI to upskill and protect workers with tools that improve productivity, minimize downtime and ensure health and safety protocols. And importantly, we’re enhancing supply chain reliability and resiliency.
That third piece sometimes surprises people who are used to a traditional approach to asset performance management (APM). I came to Avathon from Blume Global, where we built a multimodal supply chain technology platform that united shipment visibility with execution. Why the move from supply chain technology to an AI company focused on extending the life of critical infrastructure? To me, it’s all interconnected. You can’t extend the lifetime of critical assets without addressing logistics, demand planning and suppliers.
Supply chain AI: the missing ingredient to industrial infrastructure optimization and automation
The next wave of supply chain technology is here, but instead of focusing just on shipment visibility, AI in logistics becomes part of a cohesive infrastructure value chain.
At Avathon, we’re enabling businesses and governments to move beyond static AI analysis to using an agentic platform that accelerates human-centric decision support and task automation. Seconds count when you need to avert a disaster, navigate hazardous conditions on a remote platform or return an F-16 to service. Optimizing your supply chain so that you have the right part at the right time in the hands of the right technician is a vital ingredient of that readiness.
That’s one reason I’m looking forward to hosting the leaders from the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals at our HyperWerx innovation lab near Austin. It is the first series of demos at the innovation lab in what we plan as a regular, hands-on introduction to the technology we use to help companies at the heart of the global economy integrate AI into their business.
Industrial AI presents immediate solutions for logistics challenges
As just one example of AI-fueled logistics strategy, an oil supermajor is using the Avathon platform to achieve automatic, single-click schedule optimization across its maritime fleet. Teams can orchestrate crude oil transport with minimal shipping costs and maximum fleet utilization. Continuous scheduling features empower them to simulate future scenarios.
Our forecasting work extends beyond the vessel to inventory and demand planning, such as:
- AI agents that combine domain knowledge and data to improve accuracy of spare parts planning (for parts, time, quantity, resources)
- Planning based on science models that run IoT and time series data, as well as knowledge based GenAI agents tuned for domain and equipment, and
- Integration with 3D printing systems for bespoke/low-supply parts.
Importers are interested in using AI to navigate rapidly shifting trade rules. By automating compliance checks, duty calculations and workforce forecasting, AI reduces operational bottlenecks while helping customers avoid penalties and ensure timely deliveries. With AI, shippers can capture intelligent, real-time insights to make the right call in day-to-day operations.
New AI-based supply chain innovations address common logistics challenges holistically, with applications that promote an ecosystem-level approach to optimizing businesses.
Our work with CSCMP, and the wider supply chain community, enables us to empower leaders with a new vision. We’re excited to transform the way enterprises protect their people and their assets, reduce the cost and complexity of maintaining industrial infrastructure, and accelerate the path to autonomous operations.
